# Email on your own domain

> Get a professional email address on your own domain with Google Workspace

## Professional email on your domain

An email address on your own domain — for example **[hello@mycompany.no](mailto:hello@mycompany.no)** — looks more professional than a free Gmail or Hotmail address. It builds trust with customers and strengthens your brand.

<Info>
  **Nettify doesn't have its own webmail yet.** That's why we recommend **Google Workspace** for email on your own domain. It's secure, easy to use and works seamlessly with the domain you have in Nettify.

## How to set up email

<Steps>
  <Step title="Sign up for Google Workspace">
    Go to [Google Workspace](https://workspace.google.com/solutions/business-email/) and create an account for your business. Choose your domain when prompted.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify you own the domain (TXT or CNAME)">
    Google first gives you a **TXT record** (starting with `google-site-verification=`) to confirm you own the domain. In some cases you get a **CNAME record** instead. Copy the value, go to **Domain** in your Nettify dashboard and paste it in. This only proves the domain is yours — it doesn't set up email yet.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the MX record for email">
    Next, Google shows you an **MX record** (usually `smtp.google.com`). It tells the internet where email for your domain should be delivered. Copy the value and paste it under **Domain** in Nettify. Without it, you can't receive email.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Follow the final steps at Google">
    Go back to Google Workspace and complete the setup. Google automatically checks that both the verification and the MX record are added correctly.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Done — send and receive email">
    You can now send and receive email on your own domain. It may take a little while before everything is active.
  </Step>
</Steps>
